About Larry Dean, MBA CEPP

I obtained my Master of Business Administration from The University of Arizona after receiving my undergraduate degree from Wichita State University. While attending Wichita State, I was a Walter Beech Scholar in Aeronautical Engineering, Sports Editor of the school newspaper, Chairman of a student political party, served as Assistant to the Sports Information Director, and I was a member of the Shocker Basketball and Baseball teams. I served as an officer of my college fraternity, Beta Theta Pi, and after graduation I became President of the Wichita Area Alumni Association, and eventually was named District Chief of the Beta Theta Pi Chapters in Kansas.

I served on the Board of Directors of the Wichita Independent Business Association, the Wichita Area Chamber of Commerce, the Kansas Jaycees, and West Side Christian Church in Wichita. In 2005 I became President of the Historic Westheight Homeowners Association in Kansas City, KS.

As a Money Matters featured columnist for The Kansas Times and The Wichita Eagle, hundreds of thousands of individuals have read my articles on long term care and health issues. Many of these articles were inspired from my personal experience in helping to provide care for my mother in her home, the Alzheimer's condition my great aunt experienced, the stroke that paralyzed my father, and the difficulty that my grandmother endured with cancer. I also have learned from my wife, Patty, as she has shared her experiences in caring for her mother when she developed advanced stage diabetes and how she was forced to cope with the home care situation for her late husband (an attorney) for nearly six years following a massive stroke. My wife's experience also heightened my awareness of the need for adequate cash income to meet ongoing expenses of a business and residence while the individual (or spouse) is going through a long-term care situation.

Prior to my insurance involvement, I owned or managed several types of businesses, thereby giving me an insight as what small business owners need in terms of products and services. Even more importantly, this experience taught me many things about the business sector that most insurance agents often never have personally experienced. I am now utilizing this strategy through consulting with small business owners as to their insurance needs, and assisting individuals through working with Forrest T. Jones & Company, Inc., a company that specializes in health insurance programs for many associations.

I am the father of three children, and my wife Patty has two children. We are proud grandparents of six beautiful grandchildren, with one on the way.
